Categories

The current categories I’m working with for HubbleGum Cards are:

  • Astronomy
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computers and Communication
  • Earth Sciences
  • Education (specifically Science Education)
  • Engineering and Invention
  • Exploring and Adventuring
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Visionary

I have no doubt that these will be refined (and probably expanded) over time, but I had to start somewhere!

Isaac Newton co-invented calculus, improved the telescope, turned light into rainbows and back again, and gave us the laws of classical mechanics... So which field would you place him in?

Obviously we can think of instances that crossover to different categories. However, whatever is featured in a category (or categories) has to play a major role in that category.

Isaac Newton is the first example I came across that just had too many impacts in too many fields to only sit in one category.  And while it could be argued that the Hubble Space Telescope is a marvel of Engineering and Invention, it is primarily known for contributions to Astronomy.

Like pretty much everything on HubbleGum Cards, this is open to discussion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
